The Pillars of Wisdom

Woodford Folk Festival, 2002

The theme for this year's Fire Event was The Pillars of Wisdom. Seven lantern pillars built by seven artists took the form of figures representing the qualities that lead to wisdom: Kindness, Learning, Respect, Good Judgment, Faithfulness, Forgiveness and Positivity. The figures were not burnt, but stood vigil as hundreds of festival goers joined Laura Shannon from Findhorn in an ancient circle dance around a central bonfire.
