Returning for its eleventh year, on 1 January the Woodford Folk Festival Fire
Event saw in the new millennium in a blaze of light. This year's theme was
"The Beacon" - a shining light that guides travellers to safety - and
the centerpiece was a beautiful tower lifted by 200 people. The show brought
together 1000 performers, including high-calibre musicians and artists such as
the Gyoto Monks of Tibet and Dya Singh.
